"Steve Bleile - Oxy-Acetylene Welding" Video Viewing Guide

Steve Bleile is a welder. (That is the first thing he will tell you in his videos.) But not only is he a very experienced welder, he is also a great welding instructor. From 1998-2003, he filmed several welding instructional videos. Over 4,000 high school, college, and industrial welding programs have used his videos in their programs. Each video is approximately 42-59 minutes in length, packed with useful information, and would be a great addition to any metalworking or welding class.

The 44-minute “Oxy-Acetylene Welding” video introduces the oxy-acetylene welding process, reviews safety precautions, discusses the equipment used, explains how to light and adjust the flame, demonstrates how to weld in a flat and in other positions, lists characteristics of a good weld, covers the four basic weld joints and provides various tips and troubleshooting information.

The video viewing guide is an extremely detailed resource that will keep students engaged in the video and is thorough enough to serve as a great study guide for later use. (Because each video is packed with so much information and the worksheet is so detailed, I would recommend that students watch one section of the video first, and then try to answer the questions pertaining to that section before moving on and watching the next video section, rather than trying to follow along with the worksheet as the video is playing.) The “Oxy-Acetylene Welding” guide has a total of 72 fill-in-the-blank, multiple choice, true/false, matching, short answer, and ordering questions with 95 available points. The guide is 6 pages long (the thumbnails above may not be shown accurately) with several screenshots from the video, and an answer key is also included. The file is in MS Word format for easy alteration by teachers, such as removing questions for a shorter version. The actual video is not included, this is only a viewing guide.
