"Steve Bleile - Arc Welding II" Video Viewing Guide

Steve Bleile is a welder. (That is the first thing he will tell you in his videos.) But not only is he a very experienced welder, he is also a great welding instructor. From 1998-2003, he filmed several welding instructional videos. Over 4,000 high school, college, and industrial welding programs have used his videos in their programs. Each video is approximately 42-59 minutes in length, packed with useful information, and would be a great addition to any metalworking or welding class.

The 46-minute “Arc Welding II” video reviews fundamentals of arc welding, including polarity, types and uses of different electrodes, personal protective equipment, welder settings, rod angle, and travel speed. The video also identifies the four common welding joints – butt joints, lap joints, T joints, and corner joints – and provides basic instructions and advice for welding each of these joints.

The video viewing guide is an extremely detailed resource that will keep students engaged in the video and is thorough enough to serve as a great study guide for later use. (Because each video is packed with so much information and the worksheet is so detailed, I would recommend that students watch one section of the video first, and then try to answer the questions pertaining to that section before moving on and watching the next video section, rather than trying to follow along with the worksheet as the video is playing.) The “Arc Welding II” guide has a total of 68 short answer, true/false, multiple choice, matching, and fill-in-the-blank questions with 98 available points. The guide is 6 pages long (the thumbnails above may not be shown accurately) with several screenshots from the video, and an answer key is also included. The file is in MS Word format for easy alteration by teachers, such as removing questions for a shorter version. The actual video is not included, this is only a viewing guide.
