Stage Two HUGE Integrated HASS/Literacy Bundle - First Contacts - Colonisation

This is a HUGE 360+ page integrated HASS/English bundle based on the History strand "First Contacts". The unit focuses on the effects of British colonisation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

There is everything needed to teach the ten-week unit of work, including background slideshows, printables, lesson plans, assessments, rubrics, supporting content and more.

The topics explored in the lessons are:

* What did life look like for Indigenous People before 1788

* Friendly Contacts (trade with the Macassan people of Indonesia)

* Unfriendly Contacts (first interactions with the people of the First Fleet)

* Indigenous Resistance (focusing specifically on the lives of Bennelong and Pemulwuy)

* Loss of land and the impact on the Aboriginal connection to Country/Place

* Diseases which affected Indigenous people upon settlement.

Also included is a complete three week English unit of work based on the series "Welcome to Our Country" by Adam Goodes and Ellie Laing. I used these books as mentor texts in the literacy block because the content tied in perfectly to the HASS teaching.

Students complete three written texts, covering all text types.
