Description

  • These rhyming popsicles are the perfect activity to add to your therapy room or classrooms! These can be used individually or in groups/centers.
  • Setup:
    • I recommend printing these on cardstock and laminating them so that you can use them for many years to come. Colorful and black line images are included in this file. Printing black line images on colored cardstock can help brighten up the activity.

  • How to Play:
    • Either read the words on each popsicle to the student(s) or have them read them.
    • Instruct them to identify which two words rhyme and place a clip on the word that doesn’t rhyme. You could also use a bingo chip or eraser to mark the word that doesn’t rhyme.
    • Have the students continue to identify the word that doesn’t rhyme until they have worked through all of the popsicle cards.
    • Continue targeting this skill by having the students complete the included worksheets. These could also be sent home for extra practice. On the worksheets have the students color in the popsicle layer that doesn’t rhyme.
    • Included are answer keys for each worksheet. The answer keys are designed to where the students can self-check their answers if you choose to allow them to.

  • Taking the skills one step further: you could have the students identify a rhyming word to replace the word that doesn’t rhyme.
  • Easel Activity: The TpT Easel version of this activity includes the colorful popsicle on 6 slides (5 popsicles per slide) for students to move circles to identify which would doesn't rhyme. It also includes three interactive worksheets where students can color the word that doesn't rhyme. Answer keys have been removed from the Easel version so that you can share this activity directly to students, or project it onto your board in class, without the answers being visible.
