Description

SPORTS graphing unit is complete with examples, graph analysis questions, creative student tasks, excel tutorials, online research, hands on activities, study guide, test, teacher keys, and much more!

This unit teaches how to interpret, use, and create: frequency tables, bar graphs, double line and bar graphs, line graphs, stem & leaf plots, line plots, measures of central tendencies (mean, median, mode, etc), circle graphs, and choosing the appropriate graphs.

My students love learning to graph with sports related examples! Then, each type of graph has at least one activity to help the students really become involved in learning. These tasks will include everything from creating and completing their own survey questions to create graphs to keeping track of the number of "paper basketballs" they can successfully make into a trashcan (to organize on a table/graph).

COMMON CORE: The common core urges us to USE our mathematical knowledge to make predictions and analyze situations. This unit is closely related to the statistical common core standards in grades 4-8.

You can adapt this unit to fit your grade level.
