What educators are saying

This was a great activity to use right before Holiday Break. My students were engaged and enjoyed the activity.
I love that this came already differentiated. This allowed me to use this for all of my classes. My higher capability students did the diamond version, and my lower classes did the circle version. I would recommend this, as I used it as a review after the long break!

Description

An original “A Christmas Story” movie themed physics worksheet to help students practice working with the formulas for speed, velocity, and acceleration. There are three levels of the worksheet and a BONUS coloring page that you could optionally include for your students!

The top of all of the worksheets reviews (or has space for) the formulas for speed, velocity, and acceleration, along with the 'speed triangle', which helps students manipulate the speed formula to solve for distance or time. The on-level and challenging worksheet versions are 4 pages and include 11 problems. The easier version is 3 pages and includes 8 problems.

The problems feature the characters and pull from scenes in the movie 'A Christmas Story'. For example: Flick’s tongue is stuck to the flag pole after he was Triple Dog Dared to do it! The teacher Miss Shields calls for help and the firetruck accelerates from 0 miles per hour to 42 miles per hour in 6 seconds. What is the fire truck’s acceleration?

The following versions are included:

♫ Answer Keys for all versions

♫ BLUE SQUARE: ‘on-level’ version of the worksheet. Includes the formulas that students can reference, as well as some hints for some of the multi-step problems. Use this for your on-level students.

♫ BLACK DIAMOND: ‘challenging’ version of the worksheet. Students will write in the formulas to reference. Does not include the hints for multi-step problems. Use this for your higher-level students who enjoy the challenge of figuring out how to arrive at the answers.

♫ GREEN CIRCLE: ‘easier’ version of the worksheet. There are fewer problems on this version (most of the more complicated problems have been removed). Includes the formulas that students can reference. Use this for your lower-level math students.
