Description

The Seven Cities of Gold

My students are talking about the exploration of North America. Many Spanish explorers are discussed and in order to enhance our learning of Coronado, we have created a song.

We sing the song to the tune of Yankee Doodle. We love the song and I find that my students are able to recall a lot of information from the chapter. We have even adapted it to a game! After I hide something gold in the room, the students walk around the room in a circle, singing the song. At the end, I say, "Go!" And the students have to actually find the gold. The winner keeps it!

I often use gold/ yellow mechanical pencils and erasers. However, there are many great additions that can me made. Dollar Tree is a great place to look!
