Description
Save yourself lots of time with this creative two-week biography project! This integrated ELA/ space-related project has students choosing one person to research who has contributed significantly to the study and exploration of outer space and create a Google Site as the end result, focusing on 21st century skills throughout the project (technology and creativity).
Begin the project with a WebQuest. Your students will select five people from a long list to learn more about and write down 3-5 bullet point facts in the chart. Each person has a hyperlink with an article connected to their name for students to learn more, and students can read a one-sentence blurb about each person to decide if it piques their interest. After completing the WebQuest, students will narrow their list of five down to one person to research. They will complete each step of the research process, write an introduction, body paragraphs ("blog posts" or "captions" for their site), and a summary about the significance of the person's life and work. Once the writing piece is done, students will begin work on their Google Site, add their content in, and include at least 5 visual aids/multimedia to help support their content and their reader's understanding. At the end of the project, students will publish their sites and complete an "online gallery walk" to check out their classmates' sites and learn about other influential people!
