Description
This differentiated choice board offers student nine activities to choose from that center around different aspects (history/politics/food/culture) of life in South America. Activity choices include constructing a children's book, creating a food truck, and filming a news report. The activities are titled as follows: Food Truck, Chilean Coup, The Galapagos Islands, Gauchos, Life in the Andes, Fútbol, 2022 Brazilian Election, Crisis in Venezuela, and Cholitas.
There are SIXTY-FOUR hyperlinked resources for students to use to research their chosen activity topics. I use this during my South America Unit in my Latin American Studies course. I ask students to complete three squares (usually three in a row like Tic Tac Toe). I allow students to have the choice of completing a fourth square for extra credit. I normally give students roughly 3 class periods (1.5 hours each) to work on the project, with time allowed at home before the due date. You could also assign it at the beginning of the unit to be due at the end of the unit without providing class time.
You could also use any of the nine assignments included in the assignment separately for your whole group instruction or alternatively assign all nine assignments at different points during your unit coverage.
