Description

This is a no prep, print and go set of pages on solving and graphing one step inequalities. This set includes two solving one step inequalities guided note pages and two solving one step inequalities activity pages to reinforce the skills. Answer keys are included!

Please Note: This resource is intended for secondary students and does at times include negative numbers. It may not be suitable for younger students.

Page 1 & 2: Solving One Step Inequalities Guided Notes:

The first graphic organizer walks students through solving one step inequalities. The second walks students through graphing them. With guidance from an instructor students are introduced to the steps they must follow to solve and graph inequalities.

Page 3: Solving One Step Inequalities Matching Page

Students are given 6 problems & 6 graphs. They must solve the inequalities and match the questions with the graphs

Page 4: Solving and Graphing One Step Inequalities

Students are given 6 one step inequalities and must solve and graph them. Makes a quick, easy exit ticket!

These pages make a great one-day lesson on solving and graphing one-step inequalities with Algebra or Pre-Algebra students. Begin the lesson by teaching the steps using the graphic organizer. Practice the material with the matching page (makes a great partner activity – each student does 3 problems!), then check understanding by having students complete the practice page.

Understand solving an equation or inequality as a process of answering a question: which values from a specified set, if any, make the equation or inequality true? Use substitution to determine whether a given number in a specified set makes an equation or inequality true.
Write an inequality of the form 𝘹 > 𝘤 or 𝘹 < 𝘤 to represent a constraint or condition in a real-world or mathematical problem. Recognize that inequalities of the form 𝘹 > 𝘤 or 𝘹 < 𝘤 have infinitely many solutions; represent solutions of such inequalities on number line diagrams.
Use variables to represent quantities in a real-world or mathematical problem, and construct simple equations and inequalities to solve problems by reasoning about the quantities.
Create equations and inequalities in one variable and use them to solve problems.
