What educators are saying

Used this as part of our quadratics chapter assessment. Students liked that it was somewhat self checking so they could find their errors. They made fun classroom decor when they were done!

Description

This is a set of 14 quadratic equations that are intended to be cut out and assembled into a paper chain. Students start at the "Start" link and will by find the next link in the chain by matching the answer to the "Start" link to a link that has that answer at the top. Students continue to build the chain until they reach the 15th piece which is the "Stop" link.

This is a self-checking activity that will engage students and provide a review of all factoring methods except completing the square. It is very easy for the teacher to assess which students are struggling by just looking around the room and seeing who has the shortest chain. The answer key is the correct order of the links so it is simple for the teacher to check that students are on the right track.

The activity requires the ability to solve quadratic equations by all methods including the Quadratic Formula.
