—-->Hi there! I’m part of a BUNDLE! Check me out here! <—--

***You can also grab my freebie“Crack the Code: SPACE” here!***

Included in this “Crack the Code'' pack are multiple versions of this activity. There are three optional printables to go alongside the digital activity that will allow you to select what will work best for your class. Students will love this interactive game that will engage even your most reluctant learners. In addition this activity will reinforce math skills you’ve been working on in class!

This math game integrates Science and Language Arts concepts. In this game your students will become Astronauts trying to unscramble a launch code to blast off and observe the Solar Eclipse. They will use their math skills to solve 5 math problems, unlock clues, and collect Solar Eclipse facts in order to prepare for the solar eclipse!

Quick setup and easy to read student directions make this activity perfect for group work, to be used individually in centers or as homework.  Students will love playing a math game and utilizing their reading skills as they are collecting clues and learning science facts! The wide variety of options included in this pack are appropriate for grades 2-5.

Here’s what you’ll get:

  • Three versions of Google Forms “Crack the Code” math game
  • Three differentiated data collection sheets (printable) for student recording
  • Answer keys
  • Clear student directions
  • Student Solar Eclipse Exploration Badges awarded on completion of this “Solar Eclipse: Crack the Code” activity  (digital and printable options included in every “Crack the Code” Pack)
  • Step by step Teacher instructions
  • Suggested scripts included

Ideas for use:

This resource provides engaging activities in three formats: Green Level, Blue Level and Red Level

  • Green Level is for emergent readers who would benefit from focusing solely on addition and subtraction concepts (without the additional solar eclipse fact sentences).
  • Blue Level includes simpler two and three digit addition and  subtraction problems and includes science solar eclipse facts to reinforce science concepts.
  • Red Level has more complex two and three addition and subtraction problems as well as integrates the solar eclipse facts to reinforce science concepts.

All levels will “Crack the Code” and earn a Solar Eclipse Exploration Badge (digital and printable options included)

This activity is great for unit review, small groups, centers, independent work, intervention, and sub plans. My students LOVE doing Crack the Code games for an end of unit review activity.

Why your students will love this:

Your students will love the challenge of solving a mystery while working through math problems! They'll enjoy reading and discovering new Science solar eclipse facts. They’ll be engaged and having fun while exploring math facts that will further develop their mathematical skills.

Prep is quick and easy! Just select the level (or levels) you want your students to use, print optional data collection sheets, and share with students!

We can’t wait to hear your feedback (the strengths and areas for growth!). Bonus - when you leave reviews you will receive TPT store credits!
