    1. Hammurabi's Code- Have your students discuss the effectiveness and fairness of this first written code of law.

    2. Emperor Shi Huangdi- Have your students evaluate the actions of Shi Huangdi and determine if he was a friend or enemy of ancient China's Qin Dynasty.

    3. Ancient Athenian Democracy and American Democracy- Have students compare and contrast the earliest for of democracy with that of today. Which is a more effective way to give power to the people?

    4. Julius Caesar- Have students analyze Julius Caesar's rise to power and his reforms to the Roman Republic. Was he a friend or foe to the ancient Romans.

    5. Alexander the Great: What defines "Great"? Have your students debate whether he was a "Strong World Leader" or "Ambitious World Dominator".

    Also Included:

    Powerpoint with instructions on how to run a successful seminar. This presentation has directions for students.

    Each lesson plan includes documents for students to read and annotate, as well as questions to structure the seminars.
