Description
UPDATED 11/7/2022
The most COMPREHENSIVE and DETAILED sociology PowerPoints and assignments you need to teach your students!
Description:
This is probably the most in-depth unit of my sociology course, bringing in lots of interesting activities that delve deep into the world of deviance and why people commit these behaviors. STUDENTS LOVE THIS! They find all the real-world examples very interesting to hear about and will stimulate a great discussion in your class.
This is the SECOND PowerPoint I use to teach this unit and it covers the following topics;
- Typologies of deviance and examples of each: a typology is a dichotomy of two concepts that are opposites of one other, so it's used to explain the behavior that someone can have that is socially acceptable and the opposite that would be disapproved by society and considered deviant. Ex: responsible vs. irresponsible. And given are examples of behaviors for each quality that would be acceptable vs. considered deviant.
- Root causes of deviance and a real-world case study of each one
Here's what you'll get.
*This is a POWERPOINT FILE, that can be directly uploaded into your school platform like Google Classroom, Schoology, etc.
This particular product is a PowerPoint presentation with very detailed notes that span the entire section. Powerpoint includes emphasis on:
- Vocabulary
- Examples of theories and concepts
- Visuals to aid in comprehension
- Summarized notes in bullet points
There is a NOTE-TAKER for the entire topic. It’s called:Sociology: Deviance 101 Powerpoint Notes
Why is this perfect?
These PowerPoints include notes, lots of visuals, and details to aid in student comprehension. It's an excellent summary of the textbook and can even be used as a standalone supplement to a textbook.
Benefits:
These PowerPoints:
- Save YOU a lot of time to prepare and learn the content.
- Gives students only the MAIN points
- List form is easier for students to understand than long paragraphs of text
- Visuals help the students to remember the information
- Examples help the students to make real-life connections
Suggested Use & Duration:
I always go over the PowerPoint with them in class and have them fill out the note-taker as I go through it and ask them for examples that they can think of for every theme to engage them in a discussion. Or, you can have them do the notes for homework and come in and explain it the next day and you won't have to wait for students to copy, and will get higher engagement and questions,
