Week by week, the NYS Framework for 5th Grade Social Studies is chunked into a school-year long pacing guide!

Not teaching in NYS? This pacing guide is great for anyone teaching US History to students ages 9 - 11.

Key Ideas, Conceptual Understandings (Key Vocabulary), Content Specifications (What students should be able to do), and an outline for weekly instruction is all done for you in a neat chart.

A blank monthly calendar follows each unit guide. I use the calendars to write out more specific plans for each day - my way of keeping myself organized and ready for each month & unit of instruction.
