    Day 1 includes: Students will first learn about the role social influence plays on our lives. Then topics such as conformity, obedience and groupthink will be covered. Two famous experiments will also be included: Asch’s conformity experiment on groupthink and the Milgram’s experiment. This lesson is designed to be personalized by you to best suit your classroom and the students needs.

    Days 2-3 includes: Students will research famous social psychology experiments and create a teaching slide about what they learned. Topics and experiments covered are: Observational Role Learning: the Bobo Doll Experiment, The Good Samaritan Experiment, The Cognitive Dissonance Experiment, The Social Judgment Experiment, The Halo Effect Experiment, Moran Deutsch and Robert Krauss Experiment and the Quattrone and Tversky Experiment  On day 2, students will present their slide to a group and take notes on the presentation from others. This is a great way to cover quite a few experiments that are a part of social psychology!

    Day 4 includes: Students will learn and record the ways being around other people affects our behavior and how group membership affects our thinking and decision making. Terms such as social loafing, groupthink and group polarization will be introduced. The lesson will also focus on our power as individuals and how that looks different than in a social group.

    Days 5-6 includes: Students will learn about the key ingredients to attraction and create a brochure that will teach others! Students will then learn about the differences between passionate and compassionate love. After this, students will take an inward look at themselves and complete a quiz called “What is your love language?” Students will also reflect in writing on the findings from the quiz. The last part of the lesson covers the differences between love and lust.

    Day 7 includes: This lesson will allow students to learn about altruism and the bystander effect. Students will then learn about the murder of Kitty Genovese and the bystander apathy experiment and its results.

    Day 8 includes: Students will learn about and show their understanding about the roles that stereotypes, prejudice, and discrimination play in society. Specific topics covered in this lesson include: the factors around prejudice, thought processes and prejudice, categorization, the just-world phenomenon, institutional discrimination, and the “doll test” from 1940. Students will also take part in an individual experiment about the acceptability of prejudice in society!

    Day 9 includes: Students will look at the biology of aggression as well as the genetic and neural influences. Then students will take a closer look at rage and how to vent that in a healthy way. Students will also complete a questionnaire on aggressiveness then compare their answers to the rest of the class to compare how they describe aggression.

    Day 10 includes: In this lesson, students to take a closer look into the genetics of humans. After understanding overall themes around genetics, students will learn about the role that nature, nurture and cultural influences play on human behavior. Students will also take a closer look at twin studies and the data that has come from them. Other factors such as environments and how to nurture happiness will also be addressed.

    Day 11 includes: Students to take a closer look into the role that culture and gender play in society.  Many topics will be covered in the lesson such as: the role that race and ethnicity play in society, how race has been defined over the years, the differences between individualism and collectivism, and how culture affects your personality. The lesson will wrap up with how we are influenced by biology and culture (nature and nurture).

    Day 12 includes:  This is a great hands on experiment that measures implicit biases or unconscious attitudes and beliefs that individuals may hold. Students will do an activity around gender biases then one around age.

    Day 13: Unit test

    Day 14: Into to Positive psychology, unit vocabulary activity ((happiness, eudaimonic happiness, hedonic happiness, gratitude, mindfulness, neuroplasticity, resilience, self-regulation, negativity bias, growth mindset, fixed mindset, and grit)

    Day 15: The science behind character and the seven strengths that contribute to academic success, achievement, and happiness.

    Day 16: What is gratitude? Students will also complete The GQ-6 assessment (one of the most frequently used assessments in gratitude). Students will also reflect upon two personal exercises in gratitude.

    Day 17: Students will learn about the benefits of meditation and mindfulness by practicing different forms of meditation and how to support a healthy lifestyle with mindfulness.

    Day 18: In this lesson students will read about and show their understanding around resilience, perseverance, and grit,. next students will focus on the differences between a fixed mindset and a growth mindset. Finally students will learn how to improve their own resilience and how to avoid negativity bias.

    Day 19: The unit will wrap up with how we form habits and the cycle of habit formation. Students will have several interactive ways to show their understanding!

    Day 20: Unit test
