Snowball Splat – A Poison Rhythm Game
Poison rhythms are a fun way to practice reading rhythms! Students identify the poison rhythm and then try not to clap it for the rest of the round. The game is played as students clap through page after page of rhythms trying NOT to clap the poison rhythm. Suggested instructions are included, but this set can be used in a variety of ways.
This set is great for the wintery months as it features snowball fight backgrounds and after each of the poison rhythm is someone who has been hit by a snowball with the words “SPLAT! That was the poison rhythm!”
This set is designed for your 1st-6th grade music classroom, but could be adapted for Junior High and High School students.
This product includes 8 different poison rhythm games in PDF format. Each game includes 76-78 slides of rhythms. Although this is NOT a PowerPoint, it will work in much the same way if you view it in Full Screen Mode.
Games included:
Level 1 – ta, titi, sh (quarter note, barred eighth notes and quarter rest)
2 games included at level 1
Level 2 – ta, titi, sh, ta-a (quarter note, barred eighth notes, quarter rest and half note)
2 games included at level 2
Level 3 –ta, titi, sh, ta-a, tiki tiki (quarter note, barred eighth notes, quarter rest, half note and 4 16th notes)
2 games included at level 3
Level 4 – ta, titi, sh, ta-a, tiri tiri, sycopa, (quarter note, barred eighth notes, quarter rest, half note, 3 16th notes and eighth note/quarter note/eighth note syncopation)
