Snow Day! A Beginning Reader Mini Unit

I made this unit to focus on some difficult skills for my students. I also wanted to give my Hawaiian students an opportunity to talk about the things they could do on a snow day. :)

The following activities are included:

Ice Skating Rhyming – Students look at the picture card (24 picture cards included). They decide if the pictures are rhyming or not rhyming and place on the sorting mats. Three rhyming worksheets are also included.

Sledding Syllables – Students pick a syllable picture card (24 picture cards included). They count the syllables in the picture and fill in the graph. Three syllable worksheets are included.

Ice Skating Sounds – Students look at the picture card (18 picture cards included). They slowly say the sounds in the word and touch a dot for the beginning, middle, and ending sounds. 2 beginning sounds worksheets, 2 ending sounds worksheets, and 2 middle sounds worksheets are included.

On a Snow Day – A 51 word book for emergent readers. A color copy for the teacher and a black and white copy for students is included.
