Skip Counting by 2, 5 and 10 - number cards & worksheets Bundle

These fun skip counting number cards and worksheets are great for helping your learners understand the concept of skip counting in multiples of 2, 5, and 10. Being able to see what is being counted can help our learners to grasp what they are counting faster.

Skip counting is an important skill for our learners to master. As they learn a quick way to count equal groups they are also building their number sense knowledge and learning to see patterns in numbers. It also helps provide strategies that may be used to solve addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication problems.

Included in Skip Counting number cards is:

• Skip counting in 2 number cards for numbers 2 to 120 with shoes to represent the group being counted
• Skip counting in 5 number cards for numbers 5 to 200 with 5 fingers to represent the group being counted - two formats: with and without the numbers on top.
• Skip counting in 5 number cards for numbers 5 to 200 frogs - 2 styles - two formats: with and without the numbers on top.
• Skip counting in 10 number cards for numbers 5 to 200 with 5 fingers to represent the group being counted - two formats: with and without the numbers on top.
• Skip counting in 10 number cards for numbers 10 to 200 rockets - two formats: with and without the numbers on top.
• Before and after sorting mats and recording sheet. Students pick a card from the pile and following the skip counting rule (2, 5, 10) records the number that would be before and after. This activity also has an optional recording sheet for students to show their understanding.

Ways To Use the Cards:

• Whole class - pocket chart order. Use a pocket chart or magnets on your whiteboard putting the numbers in order, choral counting, missing number (put numbers out but have some missing, have students tell you which numbers are missing).
• Math Center - Number Ordering The cards are perfect for a math center for your learners to put the numbers in order – this can be increased in difficulty by choosing different numbers to start by e.g. counting up in 2’s starting at 38.
• Before and After Work Mats and Recording Sheet students pick a card and write the number that comes before and after (use a pocket protector or laminate the mat so can be used again and again). The recording sheet can also be used for students to write their answers.
• Count the Room (also known as roam the room or scoot) Place a selection of cards around the room, provide students with the recording sheet and have them go from card to card writing the number of the card and the before and after number. You can use numbers up to 20 or use a random set of numbers.

The pack has 87 worksheets with various levels of difficulty. Students can be skip counting and work on the same style of worksheet but at their own knowledge level. This also allows you to use the worksheets as students' skill levels grow throughout the year.
