Description

Single Use Plastics - the problem with plastic

Hi! I hope you enjoy this single use plastic environmental sustainability pack.

The resources included in this pack are targeted to early childhood aged children but are designed to cater for a range of year and ability levels.

This pack contains single use plastic posters, task cards and design challenge activities aimed to foster environmental awareness in children with issues associated with plastic pollution.

This ‘single use plastic’ environmental awareness pack contains the following items:

  • Single use plastic poster / discussion card (collecting plastic from the beach) with question prompts/discussion ideas.

  • A plastic ocean poster designed specifically for early childhood aged children to create an awareness of the impact of plastic pollution on marine life that is not always ‘seen’.

This pack also includes different discussion cards to cater for a range of ability levels from basic to more complex.

Design challenge activities –

  • Three different design challenge printables that target single use plastics and environmental awareness for kids (in both color and black and white).

Single use plastic research cards covering topics of:

  • Microplastics
  • The plastic ocean
  • The four R’s (refuse, reduce, reuse and recycle)
  • Plastic bag usage
  • The invention of plastic
  • Lunchbox challenge
  • Recycling
  • Swedish recycling systems
  • Earth Day
  • Plastic Straws
  • Zero Waste

A set of six mini quiz task card questions that reviews the main topics covered –

  • Single use plastic
  • The plastic ocean
  • Recycling
  • The four R’s
  • Microplastics and
  • Plastics ability to decompose.

For Australian teachers, these activités and posters are an excellent way to integrate the Science as a Human Endeavour strand or HASS Civics and Citizenship into your classroom program.
