What educators are saying

This was such a fun activity for the whole class. We were able to have every student participate. It was a great way to review concepts already taught.
My student could easily understand and used this with our Benchmark advance curriculum. It fits very well. Students enjoyed this activity.

Description

Sight Words Jeopardy style game show for 1st Grade. Of course this could be used for a higher level Kinder or a 2nd Grade for review!! With 25 practice problems, in a game show setting, your students will get lots of review.

This download INCLUDES a copy for Google Classroom! Great for Distance Learning. The GC version does not include scoring and the point values do not disappear...this is just a limitation of Google Slides. However, the fun and learning are STILL THERE! Use this in PRESENT MODE!!!

I particularly love this game because the students have to read through a short list of words for clues. Make sure they read the clues out loud to get as much practice with them as possible! First grade words used are:

look, with, know, for, live, want, have, like, that, let, who, when, the, were, down, then, where, why, work, won, now, two, here, run, some, little, round, again, thank, old, of, fly, let, once, give, walk, stop, take, said, open, good, think, going, just, had, could, them, her, an, any, has, have, had, put, how, every, over, once, as, his, ask, under, after, them, by

These games do not appear to work on Macs. If you have a Mac, please pass on buying this product. (Apparently works for some Mac owners... buy at your own risk.. the only thing that would be awry is the scoring.)

Game Show categories include:

Scrambled- un-scramble the sight words

Letterbox- blank letterboxes are shown and students figure which word fits in the letterbox

Search It- a wordsearch format. A list of sight words is given, students choose the ONE sight word hidden in the picture

Order Up- put the four sight words in alphabetical order

Fill it In- A short sentence is given with a fill in the blank.

You AND your kids are going to love choosing which "contestants" team they are on. When you get the correct answer, check it on the screen, then click YOUR team's contestant to be awarded the points! Go to the scoreboard to see all the contestants and their scores! Just like the REAL game. To get the most out of this game READ THE INSTRUCTIONS first that are included in the Word document!!

To use this game show, you MUST enable macros on your computer. This lesson includes a WORD document with all the instructions on how to enable macros. I included screen shots. You do NOT have to be a techie to do this! It's super simple! Just follow the pictures! The lesson also includes the gameboard powerpoint. Once you have followed the instructions in the Word Document, your powerpoint will pop right up in SHOW mode.

Having problems? Don't fret! And certainly don't give feedback yet! Let's get this game going! Just drop me an email at iTeachTinyToes@gmail.com so I can get it working for you. Then, of COURSE you'll want to leave some love so you'll get credits for future TpT purchases! Also, let me know which contestants you'd like to see on the show!

If you have a smartboard or any other type of interactive whiteboard, you can also use the projection from those and just use the interactive portion without having to convert the file to whatever it is you use! If you're able to "play" a regular powerpoint, you should be able to play this one too!
