In each set will find THREE different ways to target each skill, plus a pre-reading activity. All skills can be completed orally with the one page probe, or you can incorporate more written language practice with the included graphic organizers and worksheets. This allows you to use the same text to target multiple goals or work through each activity of the stories for consecutive therapy sessions. The one page probe also makes a great data sheet! All pages are black ink only for easy printing, you can even put them in a page protector for repeated use! With this bundle you are getting 22 original stories!
Pre-reading Activity
- One sheet that can be displayed or given to the student to make predictions using the story picture. This is also great for using pictures to make inferences. You can use the page to go back and discuss the story another day to check for retention.
Story comprehension
- Complete orally with the one page probe for working on listening comprehension
- Level 1 worksheet will be used to circle the correct answer from the choices
- Level 2 worksheet will allow you to work on answering questions in a complete sentence in written language
Story Retell/Sequencing
- Prompt students to retell the story after listening with the one page probe. Five skill areas are listed on the probe to target, depending on your students goals
- Cut and paste the pictures in the correct boxes to work on sequencing the story
- Use the second level sequencing page to work on written narratives by having your student cut the pictures out, glue them in the correct box, then write a sentence about each part of the story
Vocabulary
- Use the probe to guide your discussion about the targeted vocabulary word. Explore examples and non-examples through your chat and encourage your student to practice the new word
- The Level 1 graphic organizer is pre-filled, with the exception of the student’s personal connection. This allows you to focus on your discussion of the word instead of writing skills
- The Level 2 graphic organizer is blank, so your student will fill in the correct responses for each while you discuss the new word
