Shepherd's Quest: A Micro-RPG of Pastoral Life

Students will take on the roles of shepherds on a strange new island after being shipwrecked and will need to learn how to build, maintain, and work within an isolated market to rear their sheep and keep a healthy flock while also earning money and building an economy. Over the course of five in-game years, students will track their sheep production, sheep loss, and monetary gain and graph it, while also roleplaying their expansion across the island and connections with fellow student farmers.

This assignment is meant to help students understand sustainability, animal husbandry, farming, economics, and geography. Feel free to include other themes or subjects as needed or wanted, and expand the assignment as needed. This could easily encompass a whole quarter or trimester from start to finish, or a few weeks/days.
