Shavuot is a multifaceted holiday rich with symbolism, tradition and celebration. We celebrate the completion of the counting of the Omer and we celebrate Moses receiving the Torah at Mount Sinai. It is a harvest holiday, celebrating when the Seven Species of Israel, or Bikkurim, were brought as offerings to the Holy Temple in ancient times. On Shavuot, we decorate our windows with cut paper decorations and we indulge in dairy products like ice cream and cheesecake!
