This assignment was designed for 7th graders in a lab setting who have access to Microsoft Excel. It can, of course, be used for older and younger students. The file includes an Excel spreadsheet where students fill out the information and get immediate feedback if they have filled it out correctly. They print the score sheet at the end which automatically tallies their points. This makes it a better learning experience for the kids, and a MUCH easier assignment for the teacher to grade!
The file also includes the PowerPoint which teaches the concepts of why you would want a checking account, the rules to writing a check, and how to fill out a register.
Finally, there are several videos. There is a video with the full lecture and instructions on how to fill out the Excel sheet for absent students. This comes in the standard format, and also with a link to the Table of Contents version. There is also a short video with just the Excel worksheet instructions. Finally, there is a short 2 minute video for the teacher to explain how to update and change the assignment as needed.
This assignment can be completed in 1-2 days, and is a great way to teach a concept without boring worksheets--the kids feel involved and the immediate feedback is very motivating for them!
