Description

Looking for interactive diagrams and seasons anchor charts to show how the relationship between the sun and earth causes the seasons and each solstice and equinox? These seasons charts and activity booklet were developed as a Montessori Sun and Earth material, but are perfect for any elementary earth science unit!

Click on the ⭐️PREVIEW⭐️ for a visual walk-through of what’s included and how it all works together!

The Seasons is an interactive diagram kids can use in lower and upper elementary science lessons to have fun learning about how the Sun and Earth interact to create each season, equinox, and solstice. Northern and Southern Hemisphere perspectives of the blank cards and control cards are included.

Kids enjoy filling in the booklet’s key and drawing in arrows to show Earth’s revolution changes global earth temperatures and phenomena for each season. It’s a great follow up activity to show mastery of the concepts presented in the lesson.

Ideas for Use

When teaching Lower Elementary Montessori, I presented the Sun and Earth unit after States of Matter and before Composition of the Earth geography unit.  In my Upper Elementary Montessori classroom, I included this lesson and activity in my Geology unit.

The materials can be used for 3 different activities:

  • Interactive Diagram using loose arrows, suns, and labels (used in the lesson and repeated by children for a follow up activity)
  • Child’s Own Diagram (a paper version of the card set for the child to cut out and glue down labels and arrows, produced using the control cards)
  • Child’s Booklet (for the child to color and write in labels and arrows to show understanding)
