San Valentino - Phrases of Love - IceBreaker Game
- PDF
Description
This is a fun game to strengthen vocabulary and work together to get to the end! I printed, cut and laminated each of the hearts.
Each heart will have two phrases, ONE in English (on top of the heart) and ONE in ITALIAN (on the bottom of the heart). The two phrases will not match (meaning, they will not be translations of one another).
Each student will receive a heart. The goal is to have someone (normally, the teacher) start the round by saying the ITALIAN phrase aloud to the class. Someone in the room will have the heart that translates your Italian phrase to English. (For example, you will start with TI AMO and a student will discover that he/she has the heart that says "I love you (romantic)" on top of their heart). That student will then read their Italian phrase, until it gets identified by the third student, and so on and so forth.
Tell the students that they can help each other out, after all, it is a team effort to race to the end! You can even make this game competitive by timing each class/group and posting the times in your classroom. The students will want to be the winning class!
Keep in mind that in order for this to work, you MUST use and distribute all of the hearts. If you do not have the right student to heart ratio; you may give your advanced students more than 1 heart!
Most of the phrases are easy to figure out and use many cognates. Total of 34 hearts.
