Reading Passage - The reading passage explains that St. Patrick's Day is celebrated every year on March 17th. Today the holiday is a celebration of Irish culture and heritage. However, it started as a religious holiday to honor the patron saint of Ireland, Saint Patrick. The passage explains that Saint Patrick was a missionary who brought Christianity to Ireland. It also explores how Saint Patrick's Day is celebrated today with parades, green, shamrocks, Irish bagpipe music, and leprechauns.
Suncatcher Craft - This download includes directions with pictures, a video demonstration, and all templates needed to create a rainbow pot of gold suncatcher that can hang in a window as a Saint Patrick's Day decoration. Students color tissue paper or tracing paper and frame it in the included templates to create a beautiful, stained glass effect.
