What educators are saying

This resource was fantastic to use in conjunctions with the book, Sadako. My students enjoyed the activities and I was grateful for the work, that was aligned with the book.

Description

This Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes by Eleanor Coerr novel study includes reading comprehension questions and chapter vocabulary. Students also practice other reading skills like locating examples of foreshadowing and cause and effect. The low prep literature guide works well for reading groups, book clubs, or as a class read aloud. Students respond to the text as well as complete activities that give insight into life in Japan following World War II and the effects of the nuclear bomb on families in Japan.

Students do not have to have a broad background of World War II and the atomic bomb to understand the story and appreciate Sadako. Students engage easily with the historical fiction text because Sadako has many character traits that are similar to students in all classrooms.
