Description

This SWOT Analysis resource contains a student presentation and an easy to use and aesthetically pleasing worksheet/graphic organizer to meet any critical objective. A SWOT Analysis is a structured planning method used to evaluate the Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats involved with your chosen activity (business plan, research topic, group project) and can be used by your students in any decision-making situation when a desired objective is defined. Carrying out an analysis using the SWOT framework helps your students focus their mind-sets to using their Strengths to support their Weaknesses and counter their Threats with Opportunities.

Instructions & Suggestions

I primarily use SWOT analysis early on in the year for goal setting, but like outlined above, you can use this worksheet to identify objectives in group projects, choosing research topics, business plans and more. First, introduce the concept of SWOT analyses with the presentation, to ensure student understanding. Then choose which version of the worksheet would best suit your class (easy differentiation). •Students should write down their primary objective in the prompt box (this could be anything for any subject or topic – for example, “Complete a SWOT analysis as a group regarding the upcoming science inquiry project – consider member roles.”). They should then list in the spaces provided the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats that are inherent when trying to complete that objective.
