Description

The Cc is for Caterpillar STEM unit provides an exploration of caterpillars, their habitats, and their life cycle, all while engaging in hands-on experiences. This unit is designed to encompass science, technology, engineering, and math; along with reading, writing, social studies, and various center activities. Students are given the opportunity to engineer a caterpillar's habitat with a caterpillar's needs in mind. Students will learn and practice one-to-one correspondence, patterning, counting to 10 and beyond, and engage in simple addition equations to 10. They will also learn and practice their letter/letter sound recognition, including the letters in their names. Through the various experiences, students will gain an incredible amount of academic knowledge, while working together to solve problems.

STEM in Kindergarten is a 26-week, inquiry-based, hands-on kindergarten curriculum that encapsulates science, technology, engineering, and math; along with reading, writing, and social studies. The curriculum is designed around the Next Generation Science Standards and covers the kindergarten standards for Common Core Mathematics and Common Core Language Arts.

This curriculum is highly interactive and creates an enjoyable learning environment for both the students and the teachers!

Standards

to see state-specific standards (only available in the US).
Count to 100 by ones and by tens.
Write numbers from 0 to 20. Represent a number of objects with a written numeral 0-20 (with 0 representing a count of no objects).
When counting objects, say the number names in the standard order, pairing each object with one and only one number name and each number name with one and only one object.
Understand that the last number name said tells the number of objects counted. The number of objects is the same regardless of their arrangement or the order in which they were counted.
Count to answer “how many?” questions about as many as 20 things arranged in a line, a rectangular array, or a circle, or as many as 10 things in a scattered configuration; given a number from 1-20, count out that many objects.
