What educators are saying

I loved using this with my afterschool students as well as during literacy night and other family night events.

Description

When planning for or implementing STEAM or STEM activities, it is helpful to get a visual overview of the lesson. This simple and concise plan includes materials, skills, standards, opening activities, group learning, designing/building/testing/improving, and closing activities all based on the book "The Bracelet" by Yoshiko Uchida.

This simple lesson is perfect for your own STEM class and for sharing activities with classroom and/or substitute teachers.

Class Description:

The Bracelet tells the story of a young Japanese-American girl during World War II whose family is sent to an internment camp. When the girl loses the gift of a bracelet given to her by her friend, she discovers that the important things in life are never forgotten. Students create a bracelet to wear as a reminder to treasure the important things in their lives.
