Description

- This expanded 6-point rubric assesses a student writing product on a specific graduated scale to show students step-by-step what they need to do to improve their writing.

- The rubric can be used for a variety of essay assignments including narrative, expository and descriptive.

- The rubric focuses on four categories (structure and organization, content, language and style, and mechanics) broken down into 12 subcategories (thesis, body, conclusion, introduction, problem, reflection, sentence structure, paragraphing, voice/diction, punctuation, capitalization, and spelling).

- Zipped file includes rubric (2 pages) example of scored rubric (2 pages with notes); and teacher notes (1 page) explaining how to use the rubric and strategies for good writing instruction.
