Description

Make learning fun with this cooperative learning activity that checks your students' reading comprehension of the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. Throughout this PowerPoint, teams of students recall characters, events in Acts 1 through 5, and literary devices (foreshadowing, metaphor, theme, symbol, alliteration, pun) in order to compete to shoot baskets into a trash can. There are 30 questions in total.

Research shows that students often learn best when they can move, and this activity motivates students further by tapping into their love of sports. Using heterogeneous groups to play a game with friendly competition is an excellent way to meet the needs of all of your students and reward them for their success. Students are sure to remember their reading of Romeo and Juliet with this engaging activity.

The PowerPoint includes slides with the rules, instructions for the teacher, and a key.
