Rip Van Winkle by Washington Irving PowerPoint. This resource helps students comprehend the story and its symbolism. The slides take the class through Irving's ghost tale. Includes vocabulary, background information on setting, plot summary, author biography, a link to an online e-book, an illustrated adapted version to read slide by slide, discussion questions with a print friendly answer key, writing prompts, and critical thinking. Slides are illustrated and engaging for students. Use PowerPoints like this in video conferencing or Zoom as a digital resource. Share with students in OneDrive and in Microsoft Teams, too. This lesson takes about three days to complete. On the first day, I introduce Washington Irving and the background information and vocabulary, and we usually start the story. On the second day, we spend time reading and discussing as we read. On the last day, we have class discussions with reading responses, and writing assignments. hoose which slides you wish to use.

Suggested further reading: The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Supports CCSS. Includes a link to a video version to analyze after reading the story.
