Description

Persuasive Appeals, Rhetorical Appeals are made fun with this packet! Students will climb the Bloom's Taxonomy ladder as they understand, remember, analyze, evaluate and create their own appeals. Help them learn ethos, pathos and logos with these activities.

I remember learning about persuasive appeals in 7th and 8th grade and again, in more depth, in college. I think it is fascinating to delve into the psychology behind how advertising companies and businesses can cause certain emotions in consumers, that in turn, will make them purchase an item or service.

The packet includes:

-Non-Fiction Reading passage to teach students about persuasive appeals
-Comprehension questions to use with reading passage
-Change the type of appeal from one technique to another (Example: From logos to ethos)
-Creative Writing Activity where the students identify the type of appeal and explain
why it is considered the certain appeal.
-Activity: Choose an item and sell it to us using all 3 types of appeals. Then, write about the advertisement you drew and how your slogan or description uses persuasive language.
-Cut and Sort Activity: Look at 12 slogans or testimonials from customers to group the appeals into their categories.
