Foundations: Conventions for Reading & Writing Level 3:
{N} identifies and constructs various sentence types and forms, including simple, compound, and complex sentences containing adverbial clauses. {P} demonstrates an understanding of the functions of parts of speech in sentences including possessive nouns, linking verbs and the progressive tense, interrogative adjectives and adverbs, and prepositions and interjections, and uses this knowledge to support comprehension and communicate meaning clearly. {N} uses {p} understanding of the meaning and function of capitalization and punctuation to communicate meaning clearly, including the use of capital letters in dialogue and for words in titles, commas, and quotation marks to mark direct speech and direct quotations from texts within sentences, and apostrophes to indicate contractions.
Science Matter & Energy Level 4:
{N} thoroughly assesses the effects of the action of forces from natural phenomena on natural and built environments and identifies ways human activities can reduce or enhance these effects. {P} accurately and thoroughly assesses harmful effects of forces that may result from various human activities and describes how health and safety devices can minimize these effects. {N} describes in depth different types of contact forces and non-contact forces and ways a force can be exerted on an object and how different forces applied to an object can cause it to start, stop, or change its direction, speed, or shape. {P} identifies a wide variety of ways in which forces are used in their daily lives.
