Description
Your students will learn about the Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, Southwest, and West regions of the United States with this bundle of five units.
This bundle includes both printable and digital options. If you would like a printable, paper-based unit, check out my Five Regions Unit Bundle, or you can get the digital options only.
Each region includes a 6-page informational text packet that can be used as a "textbook chapter" when teaching about the region. While reading the complex text, your students will learn about the land, water, climate, products, natural resources, landmarks, and culture of the region. The informational text includes an Anticipation Guide with questions to be used as they read the text to guide their reading. Each region also includes a study guide to help them learn to label the states on a map, a 30 question quiz, and a fun "scrapbook" activity with a grading rubric. Study guides and tests now also include an optional page for the state capitals and the state abbreviations.
Each unit includes a digital informational text presented through Google Slides that can be used as a "textbook chapter" when teaching about the region. While reading the text, your students will learn about the land, water, climate, products, natural resources, landmarks, and culture of the region. It includes questions for students to type their answer as they are reading. Each unit also includes a digital quiz. You save time because the quiz is automatically graded using Google Forms.
Because the United States can be divided into regions in many ways, please check to see if this version matches your standards. My materials marked “Five Regions” have the states divided this way:
Southeast: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia
Northeast: Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont
Midwest: Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Wisconsin
Southwest: Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas
West: Alaska, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming
If this version doesn’t match what you need, check my other listings for materials marked “Four Regions.”
While these materials were written to correspond to Florida's Next Generation Sunshine State Standards for Social Studies, these regions units are also perfect for 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th graders studying the five regions of the United States.
