What educators are saying

LOVED this source! Great activity for helping students understand a complicated primary source! Extended it by having them make a poster to demonstrate their understanding.
Helpful resource! Great and easy to infuse into my online classroom with some minor adjustments for our needs!

Description

In this Reconstruction activity on the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments, students closely examine the text of the Reconstruction Amendments to decide their impact in Reconstruction and the freedmen community. Once students have dissected these three landmark amendments, students turn their focus to how the South responded by the passage of these amendments. Here, students examine two documents that focus on how the South responded and how the freedmen were affected.
