Recipes for Reading Comprehension - Christmas and Winter Themes

This product contains 10 reading passages and no-cook recipes centered on a variety of Christmas and winter themes, followed by 4 to 5 comprehension questions for each passage. The recipe passages are designed to be read by students, and then prepared by students with minimal teacher assistance. Passages can be used as center activities, home-school connections, test prep, Open House or Parent Involvement Night activities, reading comprehension assessments, or in other ways. The file contains 22 pages of reading comprehension practice, a page of teacher tips and suggestions for use, a page of shopping lists for the recipes, a parent letter to send home prior to using each recipe, and an answer key. Included passages relate to the following Christmas and winter themed topics: Yule logs, Christmas decorations (2 passages: Christmas Decorations and Make a Christmas Treat), Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer (The Most Famous Reindeer of All), snowmen (Donut Snowman), history of the Christmas tree, Legend of the Christmas Spider (German legend), poinsettias, snowflakes, and penguins. Passages are appropriate for 3rd through 5th grade students.
