Description

This is a great activity to get the whole class speaking, which is hard to do sometimes! This activity incorporates the vocabulary from Realidades 3, Chapter 1 (camping and outdoors).

SETUP: In the chart, you will find 33 questions and 33 answers (based on my class size this year - instructions on how to adjust for your # of students are below).

Print the chart, cut it into strips (one Q and one A per strip), then hand one strip to each student in the class. Be sure you mix them up and hand them out at random, not in order!

If you have FEWER students than 33, then you, the teacher, will just have to be responsible for any leftover strips, or you can ask if any of your students would be willing to take responsibility for an extra strip. You cannot discard any leftovers or the "circuit" will not be complete!

If you have MORE than 33 students (bless you), you will want to add a few more question and answer pairs so that everyone gets to participate.

ACTIVITY: Choose a random student to start by reading his/her QUESTION ONLY. Whichever student thinks he has the answer will read the answer, and then his question. Whichever student thinks they have the next answer will go, and so on and so forth. Every student has the answer to someone ELSE'S question! No matter where you start, it always makes a loop. Pretty cool. It ends when it comes back to the student who started.

I like to do one practice round so that they get the feel for it, and then the second time, I record their time. I like to turn it into a race/competition among all of my classes by writing their times on the board and awarding a small prize (candy, etc.) to the class with the best time. This gets them invested and gets them really working together.

For the activity to go as well as possible, encourage them to read as loudly and clearly as possible so the whole class can hear, and pay attention the first time around to the person who goes before them, so that the second time around, they can go much faster. :)
