Realidades 2 Chapter 3A Partner Speaking, irregular preterite storytelling

This partnered speaking activity incorporates Realidades 2, Chapter 3A vocabulary (downtown and errands) as well as the irregular preterite verbs. Great to get those "quiet ones" in class talking! If read correctly and in the right order, the lines form a story about a kid named Miguel running errands.

Here's how it works:

Put students in pairs. Each partner receives a copy of the same script, except the listening and speaking parts are reversed. The script is divided into two columns: one with an ear (what they will hear), and one with a mouth (what they will say).

Student A starts on the Speaking side with the line that has asterisks beside it. This begins the story. As Student B listens, they find what they just heard Student A say, then read the line ACROSS from it. Student A finds the line they just heard, read the line across from it, etc. This continues until a complete, logical sequence of events has been read aloud. (The story is scrambled, so they have to be listening carefully to know which line to read next!)
