Description
This teaching unit focuses on teaching both information text and independent living skills. The unit is broken down into five sections.
1. Cooking Utensils and Mixing Tools
2. Measurements
3. Cooking/Baking Recipes
4. Budgeting
Each section can be taught separately as used as a stepping stone to the next section. This unit can be taught over a few weeks or several months. In my own classroom, I taught vocabulary and recipes over a few weeks and teach the development of grocery lists, budget, shopping, and cooking throughout the school year. I strive to cook or bake every two weeks. My students have also developed menus, budgeted and gone grocery shopping for special events such as receptions and birthday parties,
