What educators are saying

Easy for my students to complete with prompting. My students were engaged, and this resource helped them.
These were great as a lesson for my 30 minute small groups, as independent work, and for IEP progress monitoring.

FREE SAMPLE - Reading Comprehension Passages & WH Questions - 2nd Edition

I have always introduced the process of asking and answering questions by showing my class the "wh" sisters. Be sure to introduce them as two young girls (sisters) who are very curious and are always asking questions like: who, when, when, where, and why. Eventually, the kids begin to use this strategy of asking the "WH" sister questions to themselves while they read a book.

I also made the stories easy enough to read so that the kids can actually point to, underline, highlight, or circle the answer in the story. This teaches kids NOT to guess since the answer will be in the story. The kids will need to refer to the story in order to answer the questions.

Included in the whole year packet is the following:

    • "WH" Sisters Anchor Chart
    • 10 monthly themed stories with “WH” questions (who/what/when/where/why) FOR EACH OF THE 12 MONTHS OF THE YEAR (5 fiction & 5 nonfiction)
    • Total of 120 comprehension stories, each with 5 “wh” questions
    • Each story has a picture to match the story, too
    • Answer Keys
