Description

Engage your readers with high-interest reading comprehension passages and corresponding questions. This resource includes 32 fiction passages with four comprehension questions for each. This is meaningful close reading practice with a rigorous review of key reading skills associated with fictional texts.

The comprehension questions and tasks have been designed to require students to provide text evidence to support their answers for both literal and inferential questions. Questions cover a variety of reading skills.

Passages in this resource are short, high-interest fiction stories.

These fiction reading comprehension passages (and questions) come in THREE unique versions. You pick the one that works best for your class.

  1. FULL-PAGE VERSION - Full-page printable texts for students to annotate, mark up, and write answers.
  2. TASK CARDS - Half-page printable task cards with a separate recording sheet.
  3. DIGITAL version in Google Slides (perfect for Google Classroom)

These task cards are perfect for test prep, review, whole class lessons, small group remediation or intervention, centers for enrichment or differentiation, warm-ups, daily homework, or independent work. The possibilities are endless!

An answer key is included at the back of the task card document.
