Description

DIGITAL AND WORKSHEETS - 1ST-3RD GRADE Reading Comprehension Passages And Questions - COMMON CORE RL.2.1

You can use this product both as a PRINTABLE and a DIGITAL RESOURCE.

You can select the pages you want to assign to Google Classroom!

This product contains 16(5 nonfiction and 11 fiction) INTERESTING READING PASSAGES that target COMPREHENSION and FLUENCY. Each passage has 2 versions.

The students will have to:

•read each text 3 times and color a star after each reading ( for fluency)

•multiple choice and fill in the blank questions(in the first version)

•answer text-based questions and COLOR the EVIDENCE in the text

and draw a picture that matches the text(in the second version).

Suggestion:

* Students must read each passage 3 times, so I would suggest choral reading the
1st time, partner reading the 2nd time, and independent reading the 3rd time.

* Ask the students to answer each question using a complete sentence.

* Then ask the students to read their answer to you or to a partner and PROVE their answer by COLORING the EVIDENCE in the text (the sentence within the text that has the answer).

Differentiation is easy: use the 2nd version to challenge your higher 2nd graders. Asking questions is a requirement of the Common Core Literacy standard RL2.1.

Story titles:

1. Chickens (5 questions)

2. Lions (7 questions)

3. Just a Dream (6 questions)

4. The Trip to The Beach (6 questions)

5. Dogs (7 questions)

6. The Best Season(6 questions)

7. Hide and Seek (7 questions)

8. The Dentist (7 questions)
