What educators are saying

My students really like to use this as a recourse during their writing. it is something they can easily memorize. I also love how simple it looks and is not too flashy!
LOVE using this strategy to get my students writing. It helps make it easy for students to understand.

Description

Your students have a basic understanding of what text evidence is, but are struggling to incorporate it in their writing. The RACES strategy is designed to guide students through the process of answering a constructive response prompt. (or text-based prompts)

This resource is equipped with Text Evidence Discussion Bubbles which are perfect for small groups, whole-group discussions, teacher-led centers, or even online learning! These sentence starters encourage students to speak about the text.

Here's ONE way to use Evidence Bubbles:

Glue the discussion bubbles onto popsicle sticks.During the whole-group reading block, students are encouraged to use these evidence sticks to comment on different sections of the text. While reading, pause and ask open-ended questions to lead discussions. Students can choose a stick from their caddy, raise it in the air, and answer the question using the sentence starter on their stick. The idea of having a fun prop to hold up makes teaching text evidence 10x more exciting and engaging for students.
