    Description

While I typically use these as an interactive, high-five game, this year brings challenges that mean students will need to have more independent time at their desks. As sad as I am about this, I hope these practice cards, with questions on one side and answers on the other, can be used to give students practice that is a little more exciting than boring practice worksheets. I have a bundle set of 14 games which can be great to give students their own set, rotating each few days to prevent the sharing of materials.

Kinesthetic Learning made simple! This bundle contains 14 individual Quiz-Quiz-Trade games that support Mental Math abilities. Nothing fancy, just quick, active practice that gets kids MOVING! They are great for skill review as well, beginning or end of class practice, or a filler activity for those random 5 minute times where you need to be able to grab something purposeful and go! These are perfect for 5th grade, but I've also found them useful near the middle of 4th and have shared them with the 6th grade teachers as they begin their year and want to review skills!

I have several sets on hand, laminated, cut, and hanging by binder clips in my classroom for easy access and a quick and efficient review/support (see product preview). Simply print the cards double-sided, preferably on brightly colored paper to prevent students from seeing the answer through the other side, and you are ready to go!

How to Play: If you aren't familiar with Kagan strategies, this game is a great one to get your students moving and energized about math!

Pass out cards, one to each student. When you say "quiz, quiz, trade, they put a hand up, look for a partner, high 5, and then quiz each other using their card. After both have answered their partner's question (giving their partner help if needed and praising their partner for the correct answer) they trade cards, put a hand up, and find another partner. The game keeps going... hand up, high 5 a new partner, quiz each other (offering support if needed and a "good job" for getting it correct, then they trade cards, put their hand up, look for a new partner, and so on. The game is never ending, so I just ring a bell to start and end each session.

This game is great when you've moved on to new topics and you don't want them forgetting what you've already taught. It also improves their mental math (fast fact) abilities and number sense.

I use the same game for math facts, spelling practice, vocabulary, comprehension... the kids love it and as a teacher, it's great to watch them help their classmates!
