Description

This is a highly informative Powerpoint introduction for a Psychology course unit/mini-unit on drugs and addiction; this would work well within a Consciousness unit -- also a PPT available in my store (including sleep/dreams).

Here, you are purchasing a highly informative, detailed, graphically-stimulating 12-slide PowerPoint introductory unit to Drugs and Addition with custom transitions and animations for you to deliver as a lecture, either in one class period or split among two (several, even). Students generally are very interested in this topic, as they typically know someone -- family member, friend, loved one -- who suffers from addiction; young adults think they know a lot about substances / illegal drugs, but find that during the course of this lecture/notes presentation, they do not know half of what they think they do.

This presentation ends with a slide inviting students to converse with one another on a stimulating and relevant critical thinking question, and to then write their individual responses to hand in as their exit ticket for the day, to be utilized at your discretion for further discussion, etc. This might work well to transition to a unit on Behaviors/Motivation (also uploaded in my store is a PPT set of notes on Motivation). Feel free to pair this with my Dreams Packet ~ History of Dream theories, including Freud and Jung as well as those notions of dreams from antiquity, and a critical thinking activity following dream journals students will fill out to record and analyze their dreams.

Please provide your feedback about how you use this in your classroom, and how it goes! I look forward to hearing from you :-)
