Here's the descriptions for all 4:

NON-FICTION:

The whole idea of this packet is that students will read a one-page text about an animal. They will then answer 3 different comprehension questions focusing on the RIGHT THERE information. Once they answer the question, they will have to PROVE their answers by going back to the text and coding it with a special mark as well as color that is specific to each question number.

All formatting is the same in each passage and for all questions allowing students to learn the routine of the passages quickly and focus solely on the content and their comprehension.

These passages can be used for whole group, small group guided reading, centers, homework, enrichment, remediation, you name it! They are also great for tying in Science standards and new vocabulary terms!

This packet contains 36 passages! That's enough to do ONE PER WEEK for the ENTIRE school year!!!!!

For every passage there is a full page colored photo for projecting onto your board! There is also a color version of each passage as well as a black and white version to save on ink! I print the passages in black/white and project the colored full page photo onto the screen! The resource is split into two sections... color passages and b/w passages. I have included a TOC for both sections with clickable links making it very easy to find what you need!

FICTION:

I'm very excited to share this product as I really think it is beneficial to students! I made this product to target Common Core standard 1.RL.1 - Ask and answer questions about key details in a text. (This file can also work for K.RL.1 and 2.RL.1)

The anchor standard for that states: Read closely to determine what the text says explicitly and to make logical inferences from it; cite specific textual evidence when writing or speaking to support conclusions drawn from the text.

I really wanted to give my students explicit practice with finding RIGHT THERE information from a text.

This file includes 18 different worksheets. Each worksheet has a different short story at the top for students to read. Then they answer 3 comprehension questions. For each comprehension question, they will be asked to mark the sentence that proves their answer is the correct one.

I made it so that they "mark" the text in a different way and color for each question to help you in checking papers quickly.

These papers will help you to see who is struggling with reading, comprehension, and who has trouble backing up their answers!

You could also use the stories for fluency if you so desire.

ARCTIC ANIMALS Edition

This is just like my original Prove It! packet and my Non-Fiction packet except this one contains 12 passages all about ARCTIC ANIMALS!

This packet contains 12 passages! That's more than enough to cover your arctic animal unit!

Please see THUMBNAILS for TABLE OF CONTENTS and the PREVIEW file to get a feel for what you're getting!

My aim for these passages are 1st-3rd in the thoughts that 1st grade teachers can use them with their high readers or most of their class by the end of the school year. 2nd grade teachers should be able to utilize them throughout the year based on student reading levels. 3rd grade teachers can utilize them with their struggling readers.

AMERICAN SYMBOLS EDITION

This packet contains 12 passages! More than enough to supplement your American symbols unit!

2 options for comprehension pages - choose from PRIMARY or INTERMEDIATE writing lines!

Please see THUMBNAILS for TABLE OF CONTENTS and the PREVIEW file to get a feel for what you're getting!

My aim for this set of passages is 2nd and 3rd graders. 1st grade teachers can probably use them with their high readers but I believe that teacher support will definitely be needed. 2nd grade teachers should be able to utilize them throughout the year based on student reading levels. 3rd grade teachers can utilize them with their struggling readers or on-level readers.

**Please note that due to the content of these passages, I highly recommend you conduct key vocabulary term instruction prior to having students complete these.**
